Rancho Tres Hijos has been very fortunate to quickly establish a quality cow herd that gets back to the basics of the six essentials of the Beefmaster. The original cows in our herd were chosen as heifers and obtained from one of the oldest, relatively closed, Beefmaster herds in existence today. The foundation cattle originated from the original Lasater herd and come from 50 years of proven cattle genetics, and have always demonstrated the large frame that was the original Beefmaster phenotype.

Carefully selecting heifers from three different calf crops has allowed Rancho Tres Hijos to develop a superior cow herd in a very short time. Breeding has been done carefully with bulls that have proven records and that will supplement the excellent Beefmaster characteristics that our cattle are demonstrating. Taking the proven genetics of 50 years and integrating new bloodlines from the outstanding cattle herds that are in the business today has allowed us to develop one of the premier new herds of Beefmasters. We have tried to keep the best of the original Beefmaster cow quality but make improvements by introducing new genetics that are demanded by today’s breeders.
